Hear ye! Hear ye!

I’m working on a legitimate and (supposedly) intellectual post, which I am woefully behind on. In the meantime, however, I have “bad” news and “good” news to report. I say that with quotes because the bad news isn’t all that bad, just disappointing, and the good news is beyond good. In fact, it’s in the realm of “holy s%@t, I can’t believe it, fantastic” news.

First the bad-ish thing:

I finally got the Short Story Challenge results from the first round and I didn’t make the cut. Thank you, I can hear your gasps of disbeliefs and booing from here, which I appreciate. However, I realize it’s OK—it was my first try, my story (in hindsight) may have been too formulaic, and I still learned from my experience. Those are all good things. So, aside from the $75 I want back for entering, I feel good about the whole thing.

Now the Super, Amazing Good thing:

I have a new job! As of March 30, I will be working for/with the amazing team at Mintz + Hoke. It’s sad to be leaving LSHD after 7 years, and I am going to miss my friends here so much … Confiding to Fred, joking with Meghan and Joanna, discussing aliens with whoever would listen … In fact, I am getting verklempt just writing about it. Excuse me a sec; I need a tissue.

*HOONNNKKKKK*

There *sniffle* that’s better. Anyway, yeah, I’m on to Mintz + Hoke. I am incredibly excited and nervous all at once. I know they will push me hard, and that’s exactly what I need at this point to really grow. It will be different and familiar. It will be challenging and amazing. It will be the start of a new chapter in my professional life and I am ready to rock it!
